Technical and copyright information for my site.
You must have JavaScript enabled to view this site! The navigation menus will not work otherwise, and you will not be able to email me or use the photo gallery. I'm not a full-time web designer, so I don't have the time to make multiple versions of this site for browsers without JavaScript or CSS. I have included basic directions for enabling JavaScript here.
AaronGervais.com uses XHTML 1.0 Strict and is web-standards compliant. However, older browsers and Internet Explorer may have trouble displaying certain elements correctly. This site does not support Internet Explorer for Mac OS X. It does support Internet Explorer 6 for Windows, but it is not highly recommended. If possible, use one of these browsers, and always use the most current version possible:
I have provided cascading style sheets (CSS) for screen viewing only. This site will work with any screen resolution, but 1023 x 768 or higher is recommended.
The audio recordings, scores, PDF documents, and downloadable code examples on this website are complete and high quality. As such, they may take a long time to download on a dial-up connection. A broadband connection is recommended if you intend to download any of these. The code examples were written on Mac OS X and will most likely only function on Mac OS X. They were compressed using Allume Systems' Stuffit software and are in SITX format.
I hold the copyright for all works presented on this website, including all audio recordings, photos, scores, articles, and other text (hereafter referred to as "media"), except where otherwise noted. I have chosen to distribute the media on this website at no cost, to anyone who is interested, with the following stipulations:
- You may not use it for commercial gain or profit, unless I have provided written consent.
- You may not alter it in any way, except as provided by fair-use clauses in the law (e.g. satire).
- You may not further distribute it by any means, electronic or otherwise, without my written consent, except as provided by fair-use clauses in the law (e.g. as examples in an academic work).
- You may not use it for any unlawful purpose, or to cause harm to any individual or group.
- You acknowledge that I am the sole author and copyright holder for all media presented, except where otherwise noted, and respect all other rights provided to me and any additional authors under the law.
The computer code examples (hereafter referred to as "code") on this website are open-source and therefore not all of the above points are applicable. You may use, alter, and freely distribute this code as you wish, as long as you give credit where it is due and do not use it for commercial gain or profit. However, code-based pieces, such as PartialGame or Quartet, are works of art and fall under the category of "media" if used in their entirety.
I have made every effort to ensure that the contents of this website respect all intellectual property laws. However, if you believe that I have made an error, please contact me so that I can address the problem. In the case of a dispute, the laws of the country of Canada will prevail on all points.
